Nutritional requirements
A healthy person of average body weight consuming 2000 calories should consume less than 10% of total energy from free sugars which is equal to 50 g, that is 12 teaspoons. Ideally, it is less than 5% of the total energy from free sugars. You should consume at least 400 g of fruits and vegetables. These vegetables and fruits exclude cassava, sweet potatoes and other starchy roots. Less than 30% of the total energy intake is from fats. Unstartuted is preferred over saturated fatty acids. You should take less than 5 g of salt, which is iodized.
Infants should be breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months of their life. Breastfeeding is continued until the child reaches 2 years.
